    Minimum Qualifications
    Graduation from high school and one year of related office experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Essential Job Functions
    The Administrative Support Specialist serves as a records specialist of a very busy advising center with a staff of ten serving 2800+ students across the Boone and Hickory Campus.

    Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:

    Creates and maintains student records and updates Banner;
    answers questions about policies, procedures, and requirements;
    assists with appointment scheduling for six Academic Advisors and one Director; and assists with registration problems;
    work with student information in DegreeWorks, entering exceptions and verifying accuracy, and will assist with graduation checkout; and,
    play a key role in DocuWare imaging and indexing of student records.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
    This position requires a person who is self-directed but works well in a team.
    This person must also be able to set priorities to accurately and quickly accomplish a wide variety of tasks while experiencing frequent interruptions to assist students, staff, faculty and parents.
    This person must possess strong organizational skills and be able to manage a constantly changing set of policies, procedures and requirements.
    This position requires expertise in using Banner Student, DegreeWorks, WebFocus Dashboard, DocuWare, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Google Workspace, Zoom, Appointment scheduling software and email, copiers and fax machines.
    This person must have thorough knowledge of the major/minor curricula in the Walker College of Business, University and College policies and procedures and protocol for exception to policy.
    Due to the great amount of work with the public, this person must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable dealing with the public.
    It is critical that the person in this position carry out the duties in a very professional manner.
    Preferred Qualifications
    Graduation from a four-year institution.
    One to two years of experiences working in a university-level student services area, specifically one that includes academic advising and student records.
    Expertise in using Banner Student, Degree Works, Dashboard, Docuware, the Google Workspace and Microsoft Office programs and Zoom.
    Evidence of interest in working with a college student population.
