A newly NIH-funded postdoctoral associate position is available in the Fei lab at Rutgers University-New Brunswick to work in eukaryotic gene regulation, chromatin biology, and biomolecular condensates.
Current Research Focus: The lab focuses on the roles of transcription factors, chromatin remodeling complexes, and phase-separated condensates in gene expression regulation. We recently had groundbreaking work accepted for publication in Nature Cell Biology demonstrating how NDF-FACT condensates facilitate transcription elongation through chromatin barriers via liquid-liquid phase separation mechanisms. Our approaches include mammalian cell culture, molecular biology, biochemistry, single-molecule biophysics, and next-generation sequencing techniques with human stem cells. We collaborate extensively with biophysicists and structural biologists to tackle scientific questions using multidisciplinary approaches.
Research Opportunities: We seek an ambitious and self-motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our exciting investigations into:
• Biomolecular condensates in transcription and chromatin regulation
• Phase separation mechanisms in gene expression control
• Chromatin dynamics during transcription elongation
• Transcription factor function in stem cell biology
We offer an excellent research environment with dedicated mentoring, including development and implementation of Individual Development Plans. The position is fully funded by an NIH grant. The campus is located within one hour of New York and Philadelphia in a highly desirable area.
Candidate Qualifications: Potential candidates should hold (or are about to obtain) a Ph.D., or have within three years post-degree experience, with expertise in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or biophysics. Experience in epigenomic assays (e.g., ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, Cut&Run, etc.) and/or phase separation research will be viewed favorably. Training opportunities for analyzing genome-wide datasets and advanced microscopy techniques are available.
Application Process: Highly motivated and energetic applicants are encouraged to contact Jia Fei at jia.fei at rutgers.edu and submit:
• Curriculum vitae
• Cover letter including research interests and career goals
• List of first-authored publications
• Contact information for three references
Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
