Situation across our country is not great as far as higher education system is concerned. The growing cost of higher education has been a worry not only for students, but their families as well. Ultimately, we are in such a mess that the situation poses a great worry for our education department.

Of late, there seems to be visible a faint light at the other side of tunnel. Eventhough it is a very minute ray of hope, the fact that some positive initiative is coming across is in itself a huge blessing as far as our confidence is concerned.
   
Some higher education colleges and institutes are looking at cutting tuition cost for the 2013 fall semester. According to David Warren, who is the President of the prestigious National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities across America, colleges are now looking at the option of cutting down on the overall educational cost.

St. Paul, a privately managed higher education institute in Minnesota was one of the first universities to officially make an announcement regarding a cut in tuition fees. It stated that there will be a decrease in the cost by 33 percent. Moreover, the cut in the cost would not only be applicable to incoming students, but the current students as well.

Currently, the university charges $29,700 as tuition cost. This would directly come down to $19,700 from 2013. Most of the current students are very happy to hear this news. Jenna Gehl, who is currently studying at the university, stated that due to this rather kind initiative, she would be able to save as much as $2000 when she returns for her final semester.

She was quick to appreciate this decision taken by her college and also said that it was more like a pleasant surprise for her as she was not aware that a privately run college can indeed take such a decision.

This initiative is certainly going to encourage more numbers of potential students to join university from 2013 onwards. Although, the university witnesses a decent number of students joining every year, there were many who were shying away due to lack of budget and inability to pay the fees. However, this 33 percent drop in fees would definitely be good enough to convince these students and their families to go ahead and get a higher education degree under their belt.

Also, by displaying the revised tuition fees publically and freezing it for a certain period of time, families are now aware of the exact cost and hence can make prior arrangements that will eventually allow their children to go ahead and study further.

Initially, the tuition fees in many colleges were on the rise with each passing year and hence most of the students could not arrange for the required money as they were not aware of the exact cost. Many other universities and colleges across America are now taking similar initiative and freezing their tuition cost thus making students aware of what they have to pay to seek a degree.
