Beloit College has a unique relationship with the Counseling Care Center at Beloit Memorial Hospital. The Counseling Care Center is a state certified outpatient mental health clinic with national accreditation through the joint commission of the accreditation of hospitals. The Counseling Care Center has 3 psychiatrists, 1 prescribing nurse practitioner, 14 masters level counselors, 1 nurse, 2 alcohol and drug addiction counselors and 1 psychologist on their staff. The Counseling Care Center provides on-campus counselors to the College for approximately 60 hours per week. During the semester appointments are encouraged and can be made by calling extension 2643 or 2331. The Counseling Care Center on campus is connected with the Health Center on the first floor of Porter Hall. The campus counselors will see students for short-term counseling needs, but can make referrals off campus to agencies in the Beloit and surrounding area.
Referrals can be made for a wide range of topics including, but not limited to: dealing with stress, alcohol use, drug use, health issues, family issues, anxiety, relationship issues, depression, sexual assault, eating disorders, and medication evaluation and monitoring.
The services of the on-campus counseling center are free to current Beloit College students. Students are responsible for costs incurred with off campus referral services. Please check your health insurance policy to determine whether costs are covered. Charges for the visit to the on-campus physician will be assigned to the student's insurance or be the responsibility of the student. The services provided on and off campus are confidential. Your involvement with a counselor/physician/psychiatrist will not be shared unless you provide expressed written consent to inform others or if a mental health crisis emerges.
