Welcome to EOU from the Student Health Center

Our mission is to help you promote and maintain a healthy lifestyle so you can achieve your educational goals. Knowing that your health care can be a concern when attending school, Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and Eastern Oregon University (EOU) are partners in assuring EOU students have access to health care services. The Student Health Center, located on campus on the corner of 6th and L, is staffed by nurse practitioners employed by OHSU. The clinic’s hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and closed for the lunch hour each day. Wednesday mornings are for scheduled appoinments only. The clinic is closed on weekends, EOU vacations and holidays, and during the summer. Except for emergencies, walk-in service is not available and appointments are made by calling (541) 962-3524. The Student Health Center also employs an OHSU registered nurse to provide health promotion activities on the EOU campus.

All students registered for at least 6 credits with one credit or more being on-campus are assessed a mandatory student health fee which, in part, provides access to Student Health Center services. There is no charge for individual illness-related visits for students who have paid this fee.  There is also no charge for individual annual exams for student who have paid this fee.  The student health fee does not cover diagnostic studies or medications, including preventative medicines or immunizations. Wellness visits (physicals, etc.) are also not covered by this fee. You will be charged the time of the visit for any testing, treatment, or services related to any condition in the absence of sickness or injury.

In addition, all students registered for at least 6 on-campus credits are automatically enrolled in the mandatory Basic Health Insurance Coverage (Basic Plan). This plan provides coverage for diagnostic tests and procedures, services provided by off-campus providers, and annual female examinations (pelvic and Pap examination). The insurance may also reduce out-of-pocket expenses such as deductibles and co-pays. You are encouraged to familiarize yourself with the details of this plan. A detailed summary of plan benefits can be viewed at http://www.eou.edu/saffairs/handbook/healt.html.
