Remember not to get too carried away and overload your writing with too many obvious connectives and contrastives. If every sentence has 2 or 3 of those words or expressions, then the writing can become strained and artificial.

I totally agree. The goal of the essay is to show whether or not you can effectively express your perspective on topics while demonstrating fluency and accurate usage of vocabulary.

At the end of the date, the essay graders are looking for whether or not you can successfully understand the topic being asked to discuss, the perspective you have on the topic and whether you have successfully demonstrate the ability to persuade reader to side with your view.
