  • In the last few years, what educational advisors and experts have done really well in our country is to argue and debate. The issue of higher education now helps people kill time over a cup of coffee. Well, as unfortunate as it may sound, this is the harsh reality. Our country literally stands at crossroads. The biggest question that needs to be answered is what the future of education in our country is.

There is absolutely no doubt that the situation is grim. So what is all the debate about? Well, private and public sectors are pitted against each other. Many believe that it is the private education sector that is responsible for complicating issues. Point this out to a private education institute stakeholder and he will certainly blame this situation on the lack of facilities hitherto offered for public education institutes.

To begin with, there is not enough funding coming in. This has led to considerable rise in the fee structure. Many parents can no longer afford higher education for their children. More numbers of people are opting for online degrees. According to them, it is certainly cheaper and a lot convenient.
Having said this, our students certainly deserve a good education that can get them lucrative jobs.

Our country has potential that probably exceeds any other nation. Since decades, our education system has been looked upon with respect by the rest of the world. We have thousands of students coming from over the world in search of top quality education. We can safely claim that our country and our educational system certainly have done great and there is no reason why it cannot do better in the future.

The biggest challenge for our economy is to create more employment opportunities. It is important that people start trusting the higher education system. Currently, not all are sure that they would end up in good jobs even if they have a degree under their belt. Unfortunately, job opportunities have reduced drastically over the past few years. This is one of the major reasons why many students are no longer confident of getting into higher education and spending a fortune to get a degree.

Experts feel that we can reduce on tuition costs by making our educational programs more compact. A three years course could be reduced to a two year degree program. Yes, it will certainly be a challenge for teachers and also for the students to cover the syllabus but it will bring down the fee considerably. This will also produce degree holders at a brisk pace and in turn put more pressure on the employment issue which may pick up pace as well.

Most of our higher education experts believe that it is important to address the overall issue and hope for improvement in the coming years. We have always done it in the past and there is absolutely no reason why we cannot do it now. All we need is a strong determination and an effective, feasible plan.
